Jenny Lewisohn, viola

Throughout the year British/Danish violist Jenny Lewisohn performs with a rich variety of distinguished artists which has taken her around Europe and South America. She regularly attends IMS and OCM Prussia Cove and was invited to join the OCM annual tour culminating at Wigmore Hall. A movement of a work for solo viola by Raymond Yiu has been dedicated to Jenny as well as a viola concerto by Eloise Gynn.

Jenny is a member of the award-winning Hieronymus Quartet who recently completed their first Beethoven Cycle at Woodhouse Music. Their videos of Beethoven’s Op.130 were picked up by WQXR, the most listened-to classical music station in the United States, who tweeted that the quartet would “bolster your deepening love of Beethoven.” Jenny is also a member of the award- winning Lipatti Piano Quartet who have performed at the Wigmore Hall and in the Southbank Centre’s Purcell Room as Park Lane Group Young Artists. She regularly joins the Aurora Orchestra, the Multi-Story Orchestra and Sinfonia Cymru amongst many others.

Keen to share her enthusiasm for chamber music, she is an artistic advisor and co-founder of the Marryat Players Chamber Music Festival which takes place in Wimbledon each June. She is also Co-Artistic Director of the Jigsaw Players Concert Series who bring world-class classical, jazz and educational projects to South West London.

Jenny studied with Rachel Roberts at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, completing her Bachelor of Music with highest honours and Masters of Music with Distinction in 2014 where she was also awarded the prestigious Concert Recital Diploma. Other notable mentors have included Tatjana Masurenko, Lars Anders Tomter and Jennifer Stumm.
