Katherine Tinker, piano

Katherine is a pianist residing in London, and is a Park Lane Group Young Artist. She has performed at venues including the Wigmore Hall, the Lindbury Studio Theatre Covent Garden, the Barbican and the Kings Place Festival. She regularly performs on BBC Radio 3, most recently for Hear and Now, and will be premiering a new work by RPS award winning composer Philip Dawson later this year. Forthcoming engagements include working as orchestral pianist with the London Contemporary Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra, and she looks forward to the release of her first recording with the London Symphony Orchestra as orchestral pianist on the "LSO Live" label in 2017.

Katherine enjoys playing in a variety of instrumental duos and chamber ensembles. Her debut duo recital at the Purcell Room with clarinettist Max Welford was described as “excellent … oozing class” (The Guardian), and as having “real dynamism and cohesion, a sense of conversation” (The Times). Since then they have been accepted onto the Concordia Young Artists Scheme, and will make their debut duo recital at St-Martin-In-The-Fields in 2017. Katherine also regularly performs with flautist Helen Whitaker, Phaedra Ensemble, and the London Contemporary Orchestra soloists, where she has collaborated with artists and composers including Actress, Jonny Greenwood and Terry Riley.

Katherine also particularly enjoys outreach work, and highlights include education projects with Barbican Creative Learning, English Touring Opera, and BBC Proms. She also performs as an ambassador for Live Music Now, and continues to teach piano at Christ Church Cathedral School.
