Kim Becker, viola

Kim Becker enjoys a busy freelance career playing with a variety of ensembles around the UK. She loves collaborating with musicians from all backgrounds and playing a variety of different styles. Recent highlights include west end shows such as Hamilton and Guys and Dolls, WOMAD festival with Orchestral Qawwali Project, sold out shows with Johnny Marr and his Orchestra, as well as many classical performances with ensembles such as the Halle, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Manchester Camerata and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

 

During her studies at the Royal Academy of Music Kim was a member of the award winning Kirkman Quartet. They frequently performed in venues around the UK, and appeared at a number of festivals both in the UK and Europe. From 2019-2022 Kim was a member of the Victoria String Quartet, with whom she recorded 3 albums and performed in many of the major halls around the UK.

 

From 2020-2022 Kim held the position of Junior Fellow in viola at the RNCM, where she taught lessons and performance classes, coached a variety of chamber groups and directed the string orchestra. She now teaches privately in and around Manchester.

 

Kim plays on a modern viola made in 2019 by Jurgen Manthey in Leipzig.
